House fire changes plan but not spirit

Minnesota RAF supporter Jim Hanson and his wife Mary Alice had planned to attend the RAF's biennial conference in May, the Keystone Connection, but suffered a house fire, losing nearly everything. “Here's what's left of my RAF shirt,” Jim wrote of this photo.

While they were busy dealing with insurance, restoring power, water, and communications, they were surprised when RAF’s John and Tricia McKenna showed up on their drive back to Montana from Pennsylvania.

“What else should one do but personally drop off a new shirt to Jim?” John asked. “This new orange RAF shirt replaces Jim’s ‘burnt orange’ one!”

Jim keeps his spirits high, writing, “It’s proof that these RAF folks DO go the “extra mile” to GET THINGS DONE!”

“You can believe that a gesture like this is one that will be always remembered.  I like the way RAF “does business”—it is a model that ALL businesses and organizations should follow!”

"Looking forward to seeing you all at Oshkosh!"
