RAF Hosts Seeley Lake Fly-Out at AOPA Missoula Event

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

Join the Recreational Aviation Foundation Saturday, June 16 for a fly-out to Seeley Lake (23S) in Montana. The fly-out is  one of three events organized in conjunction with AOPA's Missoula, MT Fly-In at KMSO on June 15 and 16.

At Seeley Lake, RAF volunteers are hosting a potato bake dinner, and you are welcome to camp overnight to enjoy a Sunday pancake breakfast. For $20 per person, you'll get the traditional RAF potato with all the fixin's, half a sandwich from Lindey's Prime Steak House, and water. Beer available for cash purchase.

Sunday’s breakfast is pancakes, eggs, sausage, coffee, and water, and the $10 price supports the Seeley Lake Aviation Foundation.

Two Ways to Get There!

1. Fly! Plan your route to 23S, CTAF is 122.9. Personnel will be on the ground with radios and "Follow Me" vehicles to assist with parking. Seeley Lake is unlighted, so be sure to arrive before 9 p.m. After that, the airfield will be closed, no exceptions! Bring your own tie-downs.

2. Drive! From Missoula, take I-90E toward MT-200E. Take MT-200E and MT-83N to Locust Lane in Seeley Lake. Locust Lane will take you the 1.8 miles to the airport, then park at the end of the road.

There are four campsites on-field, but camping is permitted anywhere adjacent to the airstrip. Outhouse, portable toilets and hand-washing station will be set up. Tables and chairs will be available for mealtimes, but you may want to bring your own. Best of all, camping is FREE!
