THE BUZZ ABOUT THE RAF
The RAF keeps making news, and current aviation media is helping us share the RAF story and mission. We appreciate these opportunities for increased public awareness. Some recent highlights:
AirVenture images worth the look – Flying Magazine published stunning photos from the recent AirVenture, including the Daher Kodiak 100 branded with the orange RAF logo. The display showcased the RAF and Daher partnership to support RAF efforts on backcountry airstrip conservation work. Daher has donated the use of a Kodiak 100 with the advantage of the new quieter, lighter Hartzell composite propellers. See the story here.
A recent Global Air story also covered the Kodiak AirVenture display; see the story here.
Meanwhile, back east … A beloved airfield in New York, Marcy Field, drew all kinds of volunteers out to clean up after vandalism damage. The RAF paid for lunch for the group. See the heartwarming story here.
City-dweller and Bloomberg writer Jackie Snow discovered the joys of landing on remote turf in her lyric piece, “Wing It To the Wilderness,” With help from the RAF, Snow was flown into Idaho’s Moose Creek USFS airstrip for an adventure combining aviation and camping. The author extols the exhilaration of backcountry flying and discovering the amazing wilderness open to recreational flyers.
