PACIFIC CITY AIRPORT GETS RAF GRANT FOR LARGE BIKE SHED

RAF Oregon Ambassador Kevin Johnson just received an RAF grant for an 8’x12’ bike shed to hold 15 bikes at Pacific City Airport, KPFC on the Oregon coast, about 16 nm south of Tillamook. Johnson is working with the adjacent landowner, and Friends of Oregon Pacific City State Airport (FOPCSA) on this cooperative project.
RAF volunteers, led by Johnson, will construct the shed including the roofing. Friends of Oregon Pacific City State Airport has also contributed to the project, and will do the excavation and painting
The adjacent Nestucca river is known for salmon, steelhead, and trout fishing. Beach activities and restaurant choices are close by, easily accessible by bicycle. “The recreational value of the beach is beyond comparison,” Johnson said. Nearby Bob Straub State Park offers guided horseback riding on the beach. The airport was recognized in FAA Safety Briefing Magazine as a national airport treasure.
FOPCSA’s website contains a wealth of information about the airport, including a photo and video gallery. See more information in the Airfield Guide.
