Volunteer for the RAF

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

Did you know…the Recreational Aviation Foundation (RAF) achieves its mission almost entirely through the efforts of volunteers?

Our organization is proud to have volunteer State Liaisons and Ambassadors in locations all over the U.S. Additionally, we have volunteers specializing in particular skills (such as social media or graphic design) who help us achieve our goals. Our current opportunities for involvement are listed below.

By joining Team RAF, you will directly support the RAF mission, help keep general aviation alive, and most certainly forge some new friendships along the way!

Please complete this Volunteering Form if any of the opportunities below look of interest. You can also reach RAF's Volunteer Coordinator Erin White directly by emailing volunteer@theraf.org.

Fulfillment Volunteer

The RAF is in search of a top-notch Fulfillment Volunteer located in the vicinity of Bozeman, Montana. The job of the Fulfillment Volunteer is to assist with organizing and mailing shipments of RAF merchandise, event supplies, RAF literature, and State Liaison/Ambassador supplies via USPS.

State Liaison Volunteer

The RAF has State Liaisons in more than 40 states across the U.S. That said, we’d love to have one or more Liaisons in every single state! Currently, our greatest need for State Liaison Volunteers is in Nevada, Idaho, Texas, Florida, Kansas, Iowa and Missouri.

No matter where you live, we’d love to talk with you if you are interested in...

Engaging RAF membership in your state
Networking with RAF State Liaisons, board members and staff
Promoting the RAF mission at events
Preserving, maintaining and creating airstrips

Grants Volunteer

Do you have experience researching and writing grant applications? Do you have a desire to contribute to the RAF mission? We would love to hear from you. We are currently seeking a skilled grants writer and researcher - based anywhere in the U.S. - to join Team RAF. In the Grants Volunteer role, you will actively seek out grants that are a good match for the RAF and work closely with our team to complete and track applications. This volunteer will also coordinate the preparation of grant reports for any grants awarded. If you are a well-organized wordsmith with a passion for recreational aviation, please contact us for more information.

Vice President of Appreciation Volunteer

Would you like to help us appreciate RAF’s donor members? We have a team of seven volunteers that is dedicated to appreciating our generous contributors. Currently, we need one more Vice President to round out the team. If you have a knack for making people feel good, we’d love to hear from you.

Your duties will include:

Thanking our RAF membership for donations and renewals
Using the RAF database to look up members
Writing and mailing handwritten personalized thank you notes to RAF members
Making notes in the RAF database
The RAF will supply you with note cards, envelopes, stamps and RAF business cards.

Work Party Volunteer

RAF hosts a variety of work parties throughout the year at airstrips across the U.S. Do you like to roll up your sleeves and perform manual labor? Would you like to improve or maintain existing airstrips in your area of the country? Then let’s talk!
