FEATURED RAF OUTFITTER VENDOR: JONATHAN BAKER OF EQPD GEAR
The RAF Outfitter is proud to offer eqpd tote bags, manufactured in Twisp, Washington, in remote Okanogan county.
With roots in New England, eqpd founder Jonathan Baker used his degree from Rhode Island School of Design, his internship at Patagonia, and brought his passion and knowledge out West. “I wanted to create a manufacturing environment that could build a community,” he says. “I knew I could get started with my industrial design, but I had to find a manufacturing method I could afford.” Sewing machines were more affordable than technologically advanced machinery, and Baker began sewing well-designed, sturdy bags. The company is celebrating ten years of business growth this year.

“We envision ourselves as an American ‘Garage band’. We’re small, and don’t need the most technical equipment. We’re grassroots, not boutique,” Baker says. Seattle Business magazine summed it up like this: “It’s amazing something as mundane as a bag can be completely redesigned and turned into a lifelong tool.”
The company now has hundreds of repeat clients, including businesses and non-profits who buy custom-designed eqpd totes that people appreciate.
“I wanted to help the thousand people who live in my town. It’s been a real special journey,” Baker added. See the RAF Outfitter to select one of these “pilot tested” bags for your use and enjoyment.
