GERMAN PILOT BUILDS HOURS IN THE US – PHILIPP KURECK PODCAST WITH BILL MCGLYNN
Philipp Kureck of Bavaria got his Private license at age 19. To follow his dream to make a career of flying, he decided to build hours in the US where flying is more affordable, and he could land and camp under a wing.
His solo adventure in a rented C172 began with a flight in the high corridors over the Grand Canyon. “The thermals and turbulence were something else — very, very new to me. My door opened in flight, lucky nothing fell out!”
Philipp is quick to credit RAF people he met along the way, the Airfield Guide, and the “old timers” he consulted throughout his over 100-hour journey, including his Centennial, CO flight instructor, and his father. It’s easy to understand why Philipp says it was, “The best experience I’ve ever had, full-stop.”
