NM: NMPA 8TH ANNUAL REGIONAL FLY-IN

Plan NOW to join the New Mexicao Pilot Association’s premier backcountry fly-in August 30-September 1. The annual fly-in to Reserve Airport (T16) in the Gila National Forest is coming up, with fly-outs to Gila area airstrips and an Airport Open House from 9am – 1pm on Saturday. Pilots are expected to read the available safety briefings for any backcountry airstrips they visit. 

Registration is NOW OPEN with a $60 per person fee, kids 12 and under free. Includes Friday dinner cookout and catered dinner provided Saturday, plus breakfast provided both Saturday and Sunday mornings. A new NMPA “Gila Wilderness 100 Years” t-shirt is included for each registrant. REGISTRATION CLOSES at 12 pm on August 26, 2024 for NMPA planning purposes.

Tent camping is allowed on the field. Water and electric on site, and county provides porta-potties. Ground transportation provided into the town of Reserve and to motels at Hidden Springs or in Reserve. With luck, the county will have their new pilot lounge semi-operational at the fly-in. You may book your own motel room – note it is a holiday weekend so book ASAP!    A block of refundable rooms is held at the Hidden Springs Inn while they last (until Wednesday, August 12) at: Hidden Springs Inn, 1 mile from airport.  Call 575-533-6146, mention “NMPA Gila Fly-in”. Another option is a newer Mountaineer Inn in Reserve (5 miles), Call 575-533-6272.
