RAF “CAMPS” AT AOPA’S TULLAHOMA FLY-IN
The RAF was part of AOPA’s eightieth anniversary season of celebration during the two day AOPA Fly-In at Tullahoma, Tennessee Sept. 13-14. Tullahoma Regional Airport/William Northern Field (THA) has both asphalt and turf runways, and lies roughly midway between Nashville and Chattanooga. Visitors enjoyed the Beechcraft Heritage Museum which is right on the field. Some made the trip 13 miles down the road to Lynchburg for a tour of the Jack Daniels Distillery.
Charles Parish provided a beautiful 185 Skywagon II in the Aircraft Display area, and RAF volunteers set up “camp” to create a recreational-themed display.
RAF Chairman John McKenna spoke about the RAF mission to a captivated crowd in the event’s Skills and Safety Pavillion.
The RAF thanks Florida Liaison Bobby Capozzi who served as the volunteer team leader for the event. He engaged various State Liaisons and Ambassadors to volunteer at the display throughout the event, answering questions about the RAF and signing up new members. Member Gordy Germany also volunteered at the display.
