See the gravel and bare areas on the Ryan Field runway in this October photo? We are closing the runway now to begin our plan to recover the bare areas with soil and new grass. “We are going to give it our best shot starting the week of October 27. The stars have aligned to do some smoothing out, haul some dirt, and plant some new grass,” RAF Chairman John McKenna said.

We’ll reopen the strip as soon as possible, but we want the new grass to be established. We expect that to occur sometime in 2026. We hope you understand this project to be worth the effort.

We will keep you posted, but effective October 27th, 2025, Ryan Field is CLOSED to operations.
