TRIGGER GAP VOLUNTEERS ENJOY HARD WORK AND FRIENDSHIPS

“Perfect October Ozark weather welcomed about twenty volunteers who descended, literally, on Trigger Gap Airfield for a weekend work party,” RAF Arkansas Liaison Harper Goodwin reports. Some drove in, and about 15 airplanes arrived with volunteers, their gloves, tools, chainsaws, and tents on Saturday, October 11.

The crew hung two new RAF windsocks, stained the composting toilet, cleared overgrown trees, took down and repaired a weather station, cut, split, and stacked firewood, completed a few odds and ends, and finished a lot of mowing. “The number of volunteers matched the tasks at hand, with everyone able to finish up by mid-afternoon,” RAF Liaison Dave Powell said.

To cap off the day, two local friends served a rich beef bourguignon stew with homemade bread for dinner. “It was delicious and enough for seconds. Lots of work was accomplished, but more importantly, lots of friendships were renewed and new ones made – a perfect RAF weekend,” Harper added.
