FEATURED AIRSTRIP: TRIPLE TREE AERODROME, SOUTH CAROLINA

Each month we highlight an airstrip with hopes that you’ll get out and enjoy these special places. Because of its legendary Southern hospitality and its own “golden rule” promising fun and fellowship, we are again featuring Triple Tree Aerodrome, SC00 in South Carolina’s Piedmont.

Triple Tree’s founders preserve its legendary history, while celebrating the next generation of aviators, and the atmosphere crackles with enthusiasm. There’s something exciting happening nearly all the time, so we invite you to explore their website for an activity that ignites YOUR passion for aviation.

This month, Third-Generation pilot and RAF Backcountry Etiquette Team member Clay Simmons will host a seminar Friday, September 27, in the TTA Learning Center during Triple Tree’s week-long 17th annual Fly-in. On Saturday September 28, Clay will participate in a young aviators event. See https://tta.aero/ttfi/ for details.

This recreational 7,000-ft manicured turf runway just invites you to roll to a stop, wander the premises and meet other enthusiasts, or get your camp chair out and enjoy your time among the pine trees or on the patio overlooking one of the three lakes. There’s camping along the tree-lined banks of the Enoree River or at the shady edge of the picturesque “Monet-style” ponds. Bring your fishing gear! There are showers, six miles of trails, a collection of historical aircraft, and a restored WWII-era control tower. During events, a small general store sells basic necessities. The nearby Biltmore Estate welcomes visitors. No matter what your expectations are, you are guaranteed a uniquely positive experience. The dynamic Triple Tree Aerodrome website lists upcoming events.

Check event guidelines and procedures before arriving, and find the required briefing, and other essential information in the Airfield Guide.
