RAF FIRE RING POPULAR AT DELAND SHOWCASE

It was cold, and sometimes rainy, but a tight knit RAF crew persevered through the weather at the DeLand Sport Aviation Showcase, held at the DeLand Municipal Airport (KDED).

“Having a [camp]fire there was a real godsend during the cold, misty nights,” said Florida Ambassador Amrat Chugani.

Florida State Liaison Bobby Capozzi and Ambassadors Lynn Gardner, Wes Whitley, Joe DeLeon and Amrat Chugani represented RAF in the Underwing Camping area. RAF members stopped by to say hello, underwing campers warmed their hands at the RAF fire ring, and new members were signed up. The three-day event, held in mid-November, included speakers, workshops, aircraft displays and live music.

Ambassador Joe DeLeon gave a presentation about the RAF during the Showcase.

This was the fourth year of the DeLand event which particularly attracts folks with interest in homebuilt aircraft, light-sport aircraft and ultralights.
