RYAN FIELD FALL WORK ACCOMPLISHED

The weather was September spectacular, and folks arrived to help with seasonal chores and projects at Ryan Field the weekend of September 24-26. It was a busy weekend for RAF volunteers across the country as other airfield improvements were in progress from California to Connecticut.

Winters are tough near West Glacier, and volunteers finished installing the snow brakes on the Ryan barn roof. The water system was winterized, and the grounds that were disturbed during construction were prepared for grass seeding. Skilled volunteers worked on barn lighting and plumbing, and the pilot shelter and bear boxes were cleaned.

With cool evening temperatures, everyone enjoyed the warmth of the wood stove.

The public is welcome to continue using Ryan Field as long as weather permits, with prior receipt of the safety briefing available on the Airfield Guide website.
