WEST YELLOWSTONE CAMPGROUND IMPROVEMENTS

Volunteers from four states joined RAF Montana Liaison Scott Newpower at West Yellowstone airport (WYS) on Saturday, June 15 for a work party to improve the campground adjacent to the airport.

The group enjoyed nice weather, not always the case in June, as the airport elevation is 6,648 feet. The 22 volunteers replaced crumbling concrete fire pits with new ones that were provided through an RAF grant. One campsite was relocated to a more favorable location near the gazebo site, which will be installed this summer.

“I want to thank airport manager Jeff Kadlec for his help at the work party as well as coordinating the work to be done,” Scott said.

Among the volunteers were RAF Montana Liaison Ron Normandeau, Texas and Montana Ambassador Steve Maus, Administrative Director Tricia McKenna, Vice President Jack Tyler, and Volunteer Coordinator Erin White and her son August.
