The annual Arizona Copperstate Fly In turned out the numbers for backcountry again this year! Ever since the RAF and APA got together for a joint booth and backcountry forums, the excitement over backcountry aviation in Arizona has blossomed. Beginning in 2011 organizers quickly noticed that the backcountry forums drew the crowds with the chairs filling up and folks standing to hear the news of backcountry in Arizona and New Mexico. This year was no different as RAF AZ State Liaison Mark Spencer presented “Backcountry Opportunities in AZ.” Back at the main tent booth Washington Liaison Dave Whitelaw, and APA members Kit Murphy and Stefanie Spencer were kept busy explaining the mission and signing up new members. Overall the Copperstate numbers were up this year in both visitors and aircraft.
