MACKIE RANCH GETS COMPOSTING TOILET

RAF and UBCP volunteers Wayne Loeber, Carmine Mowbray, John Priscu, John Morton and Gordon Rock
welcome users to the new composting toilet at Mackie Ranch.

Mackie Ranch lies at 5,642 elevation a few miles south of Enterprise, Utah surrounded by the Dixie National Forest. Owner Justin Mackie opened the airstrip for public use. Mackie, a supporter of both the RAF and Utah Back Country Pilots (UBCP), has cleared room for aircraft parking, a porta-potty and fire ring. Now he is creating a camping area among junipers in the scenic valley, that now has a composting toilet.

RAF/UBCP volunteers hauled the unit in and installed it in April. RAF and UBCP supporter Gordon Rock had designed and built it as a suitable facility for backcountry use. The structure is sided with wood and metal that will weather to a natural patina that blends in with natural surroundings.

RAF and UBCP members are welcome to land at Mackie Ranch without prior permission. For more information, including safety recommendations, go to Mackie Ranch and find it in the Airfield Guide.

I want to put a composting toilet at my small private airport (hopefully to help encourage pilots to camp here). Would it be possible to obtain the plans for this one?
